Überraschend kündigten Northlane die Remix EP „5G“ an. Noch überraschender kommt das baldige Erscheinungsdatum: schon am kommenden Freitag, den 26. Februar, wird die EP auf Euch losgelassen. Dabei steht auf dem kommenden Release vor allem eines im Vordergrund: der Spaß an der Musik. Fünf Songs werden von fünf Künstlern neu interpretiert und geremixt.
Wer genau sich für die Remixe verantwortlich zeigen wird, steht noch nicht fest, dafür wissen wir aber bereits, welche Tracks enthalten sein werden: „Bloodline“, „4D“, „Vultures“, „Ohm“ und „Sleepless“ werden im neuen Gewand erstrahlen.
Sowohl Titel, als auch die Anleitung, wie man die Folie der EP zu einem Aluhut zusammenfaltet, sind Anspielungen an die verrückten Zeiten, in denen die EP entstand. Dabei widmen sich Northlane dem Thema mit einem ordentlichen Augenzwinkern. Sehr sympathisch das Ganze.
Erst vor einer Woche stellte die Band ihren Stream „Live At The Roundhouse“ weltweit gratis via YouTube zur Verfügung.

„If you look closely at the front sticker you’ll see that it’s instructions on how to turn the tinfoil cover into a hat. When we started work on this release there was a whole lot of crazy things happening, COVID19 was in full swing, there were wild conspiracies flying around the internet and everyone was in real low spirits. So we chose to not take ourselves too seriously this time around. After all, what’s the point in life without a bit of fun? That’s what this release is for us, fun. Something different and a cool opportunity to hear how some of our favourite artists outside of the metal world can reimagine our songs.“
