Mit gleich zwei neuen Songs melden sich Every Time I Die zurück. „A Colossal Wreck“ und „Desperate Pleasures“ gibt es nun zu streamen. Die Songs sind ein Vorgeschmack auf das kommende Album, das die Band Anfang des Jahres aufnahm. Name und Releasedatum stehen leider noch nicht fest. Produziert wurden die Tracks von Will Putney, der sich schon für den Sound großer Bands wie The Ghost Inside und Body Count verantwortlich zeigte.
Ihr wollt die neuen Songs live erleben? Dann solltet Ihr Euch den 19. Dezember ganz dick im Kalender anstreichen, denn an diesem Datum laden Euch Every Time I Die zu ihrem Streaming-Event ein. Unter dem Namen „Online Telethon Extravaganza“ wird es hier eine ganz besondere Show zu sehen geben. „Low Teens“, das letzte Studioalbum der Band erschien 2016 via Epitaph Records.
Sänger Keith Buckley äußert sich zu den neuen Songs:
„(The tracks are) two sides of the same reactionary coin. While ‘Colossal Wreck’ looks around at the current state of the world and says ‘life is a punishment and only the worst of us thrive’ and, ‘Desperate Pleasures’ takes a more optimistic approach and renounces the nihilistic/accelerationist attitude of the voice that came before. It says that without hope, even in the face of such universal anguish, only death is certain and to give up now when those around us need it most is a treacherous act of pure cowardice. That said, I’m not sure which is worse, bein-g a coward or being a cynic. Probably a coward. At least cynics have a sense of humor.”
