An Solo-Alben von Musikern bekannter Bands hat man in letzter Zeit so einiges zu hören bekommen, zumeist sehr erfolgreich und teils überraschend anders. An diesem Konzept hat sich zuletzt auch Lamb Of God-Gitarrist Mark Morton bedient, der kürzlich seine EP „Ether“ veröffentlichte, den Nachfolger seines im letzten Jahr erschienenen Solo-Debüts „Anesthetic“.
Auf der EP spielt Morton mit Gastmusikern wie John Carbone (Moon Tooth), Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Howard Jones (Light The Torch) und Mark Morales (Sons Of Texas). Mit letzterem entstand auch das Cover zu dem Pearl Jam-Song „Black“, zu dem nun ein Musikvideo erschienen ist. Morton kommentiert den Song:
“The early ‘90s were such an important and vibrant time for rock music in general, and I feel like ‘Black’ is one of the great songs from that era. Our approach in covering it was to present a super stripped-down version, sticking the essence of the song. It’s got a very lonely feel to it and Mark Morales delivered an absolutely incredible vocal performance.”
