Die New-Jersey-Punklegenden The Bouncing Souls haben „Volume 2“ angekündigt, ein schnodderig betiteltes Album mit neu überarbeiteten Songs aus ihrem gesamten Katalog. Das Album soll am 23. Oktober über Pure Noise Records erscheinen und enthält verschiedene Versionen von zehn klassischen Souls-Songs sowie den brandneuen Titel „World On Fire“.
Die Band veröffentlichte gleichermaßen eine überarbeitete Version ihres Songs „Ghosts on the Boardwalk“. Das Lied stammt ursprünglich von ihrem gleichnamigen 2010er Album. The Bouncing Souls veröffentlichten 2016 ihr zehntes Studioalbum „Simplicity„.
Die Initialzündung für „Volume 2“ kam von den Akustik-Sets, die The Bouncing Souls vor den Shows auf ihrer 30-jährigen Jubiläumstournee im Jahr 2019 spielten. Pete Steinkopf erklärt:
„We initially wanted to recreate some of the stripped-down vibe of the acoustic sets, but if anything, these versions are much more involved than the original versions. The first day we got to the studio Will said something like ‚we’re not gonna just make an acoustic record, right guys?‘ We were like ‘hell no’ and then we were off to the races.“
Und Greg Attonito ergänzt:
„Many of the songs we recorded have been around for twenty years or more and we’ve played them thousands of times. It was really satisfying to bring 30 years of experience to these recordings. We knew the songs inside and out so it was fun to stretch them out a bit and see what happened“
