Anti-Flag veröffentlichen mit „The Criminals“ eine weitere Auskopplung ihres kommenden Albums „American Fall“. Zur Veröffentlichung der Single präsentiert die Band ein aussagekräftiges Lyric-Video.
„The Criminals“ galoppiert in rasender Geschwindigkeit voran, getrieben von einer mit Blut, Schweiß, Tränen und purer Punk-Wut getränkten Performance. Dabei setzt sich der Song damit auseinander, dass jeder selbst immer wieder seine eigene Einstellung und seinen moralischen Weg hinterfragen und neu bewerten sollte:

Those who used their vocation and all at their disposal to fight for social, economic, and racial justice.
When a society prioritizes the pursuit of wealth over all else and its leaders celebrate violence, authoritarianism and nationalism, that society ends up on a corrupted moral path. This path leads to events like neo-nazi rallies in Charlottesville and tragedies like the shooting in Las Vegas.
It is insanity to do the same things over and over again expecting different results. Wall Street, the fossil fuel industry, big pharma, the NRA and the weapons lobby pull the strings of the politicians in Washington, leaving us with a government and society where profit comes first and people come second.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Apathy and cynicism are our greatest enemies.

Mit „American Fall“ veröffentlichen die Polit-Punk-Veteranen aus Pittsburgh am 3. November ihr zehntes Studioalbum und stellen sich zwei Jahre nach „American-Spring“ erneut in den polit- und gesellschaftskritischen Sturm der aktuellen Zeit.
In der Vergangenheit liehen Anti-Flag Bewegungen wie Occupy Together, #keinkölschfürnazis, Greenpeace, Sea Shepherd und Amnesty International ihre Stimme und gründeten nicht nur ihr eigenes Label A-F, sondern riefen gleichzeitig auch das ANTIFest ins Leben.
