The Bouncing Soulsstarten mit einem Knall ins neue Jahr und verkünden, dass eine neue Platte auf dem Weg ist! „Ten Stories High“ wird das 12. Album der New Jersey-Punk Legenden heißen und einen ganz besonderen Platz in ihrer Diskographie einnehmen. Durch die pandemiebedingte Tourunterbrechung hat sich die Band entschlossen, über die Online-Plattform Patreon Kontakt zu ihren Fans aufzunehmen. Dabei gab es unter anderem die Option, in direkten Austausch mit den Musikern zu treten und sich einen eigenen Song von ihnen zu wünschen.
It was so refreshing to be like ‘Oh cool we’re going to get to know someone’. We’ve written so many songs from our own experiences but this time we really stepped outside of that. We’ve been writing songs together for 30 years and that’s been amazing, but this felt like something new: a way to tell someone else’s story and have a whole new journey.<span class="su-quote-cite">Greg Attonito</span>
Statt ihrer eigenen Erfahrungen, haben die Bouncing Souls also Songs über die Lebensgeschichten ihrer Hörer:innen verfasst und im Studio von Will Yip, der u.a. auch mit The Menzingers und Titel Fight zusammengearbeitet hat, in Form gebracht.
Die ersten beiden Hörproben dieses Experiments haben uns die Jungs natürlich auch direkt präsentiert. Den titelgebenden „Ten Stories High“ und „Higher Ground“ gibt es ab sofort auf die Ohren. Zum Titeltrack hatte Frontmann Greg Attonito folgendes zu sagen:
During the studio sessions we realized we wanted a song to summarize the process and tell the story of the project. One afternoon during the session we came up with the title ‚Ten Stories High‘ and matched it up with a melody that Pete and Bryan had recorded earlier on their phones. We really liked how the title added imagery of ten people in a ten story building living out their own external and internal experiences. It was a perfect summary to the project. After a few hours of tinkering with the music and words we had our title track for the record!<span class="su-quote-cite">Greg Attonito</span>
