Der kanadische Singer/Songwriter Eamon McGrath startet heute seine Europatour. In diesem Zuge macht er für drei Shows auch in Deutschland Halt. Präsentiert wird Euch diese Tour vom Count Your Bruises Magazine. Ein Künstler, dem wohl allen Fans und Freunden von Bands wie The Gaslight Anthem und Hot Water Music gefallen dürfte.
Vor rund einem Jahr war der Künstler bereits in Deutschland unterwegs und in der Zwischenzeit ist einiges passiert. Er hat sein Buch „Berlin-Warszawa Express“ veröffentlicht, in dem er eine Frage behandelt, die sich Bands auf Tour wohl häufig stellen: Sollte man für seine Kunst leiden? Laut Eamon McGrath ist der Lebensstil eines Musikers nämlich durchaus mit viel Schmerz und Kummer verbunden. In seinem Buch beschreibt er über eigene Erlebnisse im Leben on the road.
Außerdem war er beinahe durchgängig auf der ganzen Welt auf Tour und hat in der Zwischenzeit auch an seinem neuen Album „Tantramar“ gearbeitet, das am 2. Juni veröffentlicht wird. McGrath über sein neues Werk:
„The concept of the record was to inject myself into the community of Sackville with the aim of using its spaces and the people that inhabit them as both a figurative and literal instrument. I imagined the town being this squeezebox or accordion that billowed as I worked away in solitude at George’s. (…) This is the most focused and ambitious record I’ve done since ‘Young Canadians’. I was at the mercy of the peace and quiet of the Tantramar marsh, and to cope, I made as loud and obnoxious a racket as I could.”
